CEO and Founder Benjamin Thelonious Fels leads teams that innovate. He has worked with physicians, administrators and physician-scientists to deploy macro-eyes technology at leading academic medical centers in New York City and in California.
He began his career at a quantitative fund as a derivatives trader and managed profitable quantitative, technology and market teams in Chicago and London.
Benjamin built machine learning systems that power successful algorithmic trading systems and, with macro-eyes co-founder Suvrit Sra, developed novel pattern-identifying software to assess geologic assets for the world’s largest energy services firm. He has spoken on applied machine learning at the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington and the Kidney Research Institute.
Benjamin graduated Wesleyan University in the history of art.
Chief Scientist and co-founder Suvrit Sra, PhD is an expert on large-scale machine learning and optimization. He is a Principal Research Scientist in the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems at MIT where he is a member of the Machine Learning Group and the Center for Statistics.
Suvrit is the author of more than 65 peer-reviewed publications in machine learning, data mining, statistics, optimization, and mathematics, has been issued several patents and is the editor of Optimization for Machine Learning (MIT Press).
In 2017, Suvrit was the recipient of an NSF BIGDATA grant to create a novel suite of models and algorithms for analyzing complex datasets, with a particular focus on three factors crucial for next-generation machine learning: interpretability, interactivity and automated learning.
Suvrit received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and has served as visiting faculty at UC Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon.
Chief Design Officer and co-founder Sebastian Kaupert has 25 years of leadership where business meets design. From the American Express intranet to the digital presence of the International Monetary Fund, he has helped shape global companies' brand experiences across media.
Sebastian has a particular focus on thinking through how the healthcare industry can make the best use of information. He has worked with Novartis, Boehringer Ingelheim, Johnson & Johnson and GSK, and built the user-interface design and branding strategy for one of the first wearable device companies.
Johannes Kitschke is the lead technologist at macro eyes. He has a background in high-performance computing.
Johannes holds a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture from Hamburg University of Technology, Germany and a Master of Science in Computational Engineering Science from RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany.
Johannes’ Master’s thesis involved the design and implementation of a scalable data stream mining framework that allowed for shape-based querying/monitoring of a large number of ECG data streams in parallel. His thesis was supervised by Suvrit Sra.
